ON CAMPUS at the Franciscan Renewal Center | 5802 E. Lincoln Dr. Paradise Valley, AZ | November 5 - 7 Facilitators: Conrad Targonski OFM, CAPT, CHC, USN (Ret.); Greg Masiello, Ph.D.; Rev. Dr. William Reese, D.Min., Th.D. Before you register for this retreat, please contact Greg Masiello at [email protected] for detailed information about the retreat . St. Francis: Journey of a Resilient Warrior Retreat is designed to offer active-duty service members and veterans healing insights from one of the most beloved but misunderstood saints, St. Francis of Assisi. Most people don’t know that St. Francis was a soldier and a prisoner of war who faced hardships and challenges before undergoing a profound religious experience. In untangling the paradox of his life, this retreat will explore how the call of the warrior intersects with the call of spirituality. The group will examine, from various perspectives, the challenges confronting veterans in light of the life of a saint who rose out of the ashes of combat to become an icon of peace. With this in mind, we will look at the life of St. Francis as portrayed in the book The Journey and the Dream by Franciscan Friar Murray Bodo, OFM. Program starts on Nov 5 at 5 pm MST and concludes on Sunday, Nov 7 at 2 pm MST after lunch. The retreat is free to Veterans and is supported by a grant from the Arizona Community Foundation. PLEASE NOTE: When you register for this program, you will be emailed an automated confirmation from [email protected] If it does not arrive in your Inbox shortly after registering, please check your Clutter folder. The automated confirmation email may contain a "Join Session" link as if this were an online program. Please disregard the link. You will receive on-campus check-in information in a separate email from [email protected] within one week before the program begins.
